NOVA

Nova tattoo artist

A Mexi-American artist born and raised in San Diego, blending traditional Japanese tattooing with contemporary Japanese culture.

My creative roots trace back to shoujo anime such as NANA and Fruits Basket, which sparked my appreciation for the rabbit hole that is Japanese culture, from ukiyo-e to yokai folklore. I’m particularly drawn to the symbolism in these traditional motifs and love to incorporate those themes into tattoos that feel playful, bold and personal.

I create imaginative tattoos with charm, depth and a little bite. Whether it’s your first tattoo or the next piece in a larger collection, I enjoy designing artwork that feel intentional, complement the body, and become part of your story.

I strive to create a relaxed, collaborative environment where clients feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their ideas and taking breaks whenever they need. Every appointment is approached with patience and care; I never rush the process, and your comfort is just as important as the finished tattoo.

I’m especially excited to work on sleeves, larger ongoing projects, and custom pieces that allow us to build a cohesive collection over time!

Healing Guide

Aftercare.

Great tattoos don’t end when you leave the studio. Following proper aftercare helps your tattoo heal beautifully and protects the work we’ve created together!

01

Wash Gently

Remove your bandage according to your aftercare instructions. Wash your tattoo gently with fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a paper towel, and never rub. (Avoid using a regular bath towel, as it can harbor bacteria)

02

Moisturize Lightly

After three days, you can apply a very thin layer of A&D ointment. Your tattoo should never look greasy or overly saturated as it may be disruptive to the healing process.

03

Avoid Irritation

Avoid swimming, soaking, excessive sweating, direct sunlight, scratching, or tight clothing over the tattoo until it has fully healed.

04

Trust the Healing

Peeling, flaking, and light itching are completely normal. Let the skin heal naturally without picking or scratching.

Healing Timeline

Most tattoos finish their surface healing within 2–4 weeks, while the deeper layers of skin can take up to 6 weeks to fully heal. Every body heals differently. If you have any concerns during the healing process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Common questions

FAQ.

How much do tattoos cost?

My hourly rate is $150 for custom tattoos. Final pricing depends on size, placement, detail and tattoo time. Flash designs are priced individually.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment and is applied toward the final cost. With at least 48 hours’ notice, it may be transferred to a new appointment date.
Last-minute cancellations and no shows will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.

How should I prepare?

Eat a full meal, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and wear comfortable clothing that provides access to the tattoo placement.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash is preferred for deposits and for final tattoo payments. I also accept Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal.

Can I bring a guest?

Yes. You may bring one guest to accompany you during your appointment.

Can I use numbing cream?

Yes, but notify me before your appointment so we can confirm the product and application timing.

Do you tattoo minors?

No. All clients must be 18 or older and present valid government-issued identification.

Do you offer touch-ups?

Complimentary touch-ups are available within one year when the tattoo has been properly cared for during healing.

Do you tattoo over scars?

It depends on the type, age, and condition of the scar. Every case is different, so please send me a clear photo of the area you would like tattooed so I can better assess whether it is suitable for tattooing.
If you have any existing skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, active acne, or other skin sensitivities, please consult with your primary care physician or dermatologist before getting tattooed. This ensures the safety of your skin, prevents potential irritation or flare-ups, and allows for the best possible healing process.
